Laura Reese

Yoga Instructor

I was introduced to yoga in 2002 while living with chronic health issues that kept me from school, work, and truly living my life. Practicing yoga was the first time I had ever sensed true connection with my body and calmness with my inner life. I was inspired to learn more which resulted in personal growth and gradual healing. From there, yoga and meditation ebbed and flowed throughout my life. I spent eight years working as a fitness professional. I absolutely loved working with people to help them realize and achieve their individual goals and learning the mechanics of our fascinating bodies. However, I struggled with the shallowness of gym culture, and decided I wanted to learn something new. In 2015, I graduated from Augsburg University with a degree in psychology. Having a background in the sciences of both body and mind, yoga kept calling me.

In 2019, I enrolled in Yoga Sanctuary’s 230-Hour Holistic Yoga Teacher Training & Personal Transformation, and found it to be, well, personally transformational. With a strong commitment to my own yoga practice and learning from Shelley Pagitt and Tracy Vacura, I discovered yoga is my connection between not only body and mind, but also my spirit, the breath, our earth, and one another. I am completely filled with joy to be able to share yoga with others, and I hold deep gratitude to be able to be a part of this aptly named sanctuary that has been purposefully and compassionately created for everybody. I enjoy teaching vinyasa classes to intentionally connect the breath with movement while inviting lighter energy into the body.  I look forward to sharing yoga and kindness with all who are willing wherever they are on their paths.
